The District has an unusually high concentration of buildings whose public space is finished in natural stone. Downtown trophy office, hotel lobbies, association headquarters, embassies and chanceries, museums, and a large stock of historic buildings where the floor is older than any maintenance contract that has ever touched it.
That concentration is why we built a cleaning practice on top of a restoration company rather than the other way around. In DC, the floor is usually the most valuable cleanable surface in the building, and it is routinely maintained by crews with no training in the material.
We also work extensively with the security and access requirements that come with the District, including badged overnight access, documented crew rosters, and coordination with building security in buildings where that is not optional.

Yes, and it is a large part of our DC work. Original stone and terrazzo in an older building will not survive an aggressive modern program, so we clean it with the restraint of a company that restores those materials for a living.
